Universale – The Allrounder Straight Trumpet Mute

The perfect mute to start with — and the one you’ll keep reaching for.

If you’re new to DiaMute or unsure which mute to choose first, the Universale is the clear answer. It truly lives up to its name.

Professional musicians and serious amateurs alike praise the Universale for its effortless response, warm and rich tone, and flawless intonation across the entire register. Whether you need a soft, velvety sound for delicate solo passages or powerful projection and bite for loud tutti sections, this mute delivers in every situation.

One mute. Every dynamic. Every style.

Built for real musicians

Like all DiaMute models, the Universale features our specially designed highly compressed corks. They provide the secure fit and acoustic qualities of much thicker traditional corks, while being significantly more durable. Even after years of regular use, the corks stay firm, intact, and reliable — no crumbling, no falling out, no frustrating adjustments.

Compatible with both French and German (Rotary) Trumpets

All DiaMute straight mutes are available in two precisely fitted versions: one for standard/French trumpets and one for rotary/German trumpets.

Professional musicians have long complained that most mutes never fit both instruments properly. That’s why we engineered every model with two dedicated versions. The difference is easy to recognize on the bottom plate of the logo: a full diamond tip (right) means it’s made for French trumpets, while a pointy diamond tip (left) indicates the German/rotary trumpet version.
