About us
We make better trumpet mutes — because we were tired of the ones that existed.
DiaMute was founded in 2024 by Tobias Vossel and Joris Rompen.
Tobias is a mechanical engineer (RWTH Aachen) with a deep passion for 3D printing and plastics. As an amateur trumpet, trombone and euphonium player, he got frustrated with the poor sound, bad fit and high prices of traditional mutes. So he started designing his own — testing hundreds of prototypes until the sound and fit were exactly right.
Joris is a professional conductor and saxophone player. He brought the real-world musician perspective: working with dozens of players (amateur and professional), collecting feedback, and making sure every mute meets the strict demands of the rehearsal room and stage. He also leads all marketing, packaging, and the custom engraving experience.
Together, we combine Tobias’s engineering precision with Joris’s musical know-how to create high quality, fully customizable 3D-printed straight mutes — made for musicians who refuse to compromise between quality, design and price.
Made by musicians. Engineered to perfection.
